How to archive Amazon orders and view or hide items in your archive

  • Amazon archived orders are hidden from your Orders page.
  • You can only archive 500 orders per account on Amazon and there's no way to delete orders.

Sharing an Amazon account can be useful, but if you're trying to order something special for the person who shares that account, your order history can quash the surprise. Archiving orders, which hides them from your order history, can help you avoid that issue.

But you should know that you're limited to 500 archived orders per account. And if you don't have an Amazon Household account, your browsing history will still list the item in question. So you may also want to hide your browsing history as well.

Here's what you should know about archiving orders on Amazon.

How to archive an Amazon order on a computer

You can only archive orders on the Amazon website, not on the mobile app.

1. Go to the Amazon website and log in, if needed.

2. Hover over the Account and Lists tab, and then select Orders.

3. Scroll through and locate the order you want to archive, then click Archive Order in the bottom-left corner of the order.

4. Click Archive Order again in the pop-up confirmation window.

A confirmation message will then appear at the top of the page.

How to view Amazon archived orders

Once you've archived orders, you can view them on both the desktop or mobile versions of the site.

On a computer:

1. Go to the Amazon website and log in, if needed.

2. Hover over the Account and Lists tab and click Orders.

3. Click the drop-down next to X orders placed in, and select Archived Orders.

On the mobile app:

You can't archive an order on the mobile app, but you can view your archived orders. Here's how:

1. Open the Amazon app and log in, if needed.

2. Tap the three-line icon to open the menu.

3. Select Your Orders or Orders.

4. Tap the Filter option and select Archived orders.

How to hide Amazon archived orders

You can't delete orders you've made, and unfortunately, you also can't hide them from your archive. That said, you can take things a step further by hiding your browsing history. Here's how:

1. Go to the Amazon website and log in to your account, if necessary.

2. Click Edit your browsing history, under Recently Viewed.

3. Find the item you want to remove and click the Remove from view button.

You'll then see Removed appear over the item, and the section will be grayed out. And it will disappear if you refresh the page.

Quick tip: If you click the down-caret next to Manage history, which is in the upper-right corner of the Browsing History page, you'll see the option to turn the browsing history feature on or off.

Don't ever give out your Amazon account password! Here's how to share Amazon Prime without sharing your account itself.

If you have Amazon Prime, you've probably had friends and family members ask if they can use your Amazon Prime account to buy stuff with free two-day shipping. Whether you think password sharing is ethical or not, you can't deny that it's risky---and maybe you're reluctant to share access so freely.

But there's good news!

As an Amazon Prime member, there's one benefit you may have overlooked: with Amazon Household, you can share certain benefits of Amazon Prime with other family members who have Amazon accounts. Keep reading to learn how you can share Amazon Prime with your family, using an official method that's legal and easy to set up.

What Is Amazon Household?

Amazon Household is a special feature provided by Amazon that lets you link different Amazon accounts under one master account. As the name implies, this feature is designed specifically for families, which is reflected in the limitations of which accounts can be linked in a household:

  • Up to two adults who have their own Amazon accounts.
  • Up to four teen profiles, which are special logins that teenagers can use to independently browse and shop on Amazon.
  • Up to four child profiles, which are restricted logins that aren't allowed to browse or shop on Amazon. These profiles are meant for kids to use in conjunction with services like Amazon FreeTime.

In other words, an adult Amazon account can have several teen and child profiles, but a Household brings two adult Amazon accounts together and allows all the linked adults, teens, and children to share the benefits of Amazon Prime between them.

Or you can set up a Household for a single adult account, with both parents sharing the same account and setting up separate profiles for teens and children.

Which Amazon Prime Benefits Can Be Shared?

Without Amazon Household

A single adult Amazon Prime account, without using the Household feature, can create up to four teen profiles. These teen profiles can take advantage of the following Amazon Prime benefits:

  • Prime Shipping: Free two-day shipping to any address in the continental US.
  • Prime Video: Free streaming of TV shows and movies.
  • Twitch Prime: Free games and a free channel subscription on Twitch every 30 days.

With Amazon Household

Two adult Amazon Prime accounts that have been linked together in a Household can share the following Amazon Prime benefits:

  • Prime Shipping: Free two-day shipping to any address in the continental US.
  • Prime Now: Free same-day shipping to select zip codes in the continental US.
  • Prime Early Access: Access to Lightning Deals before regular Amazon shoppers.
  • Prime Video: Free streaming of TV shows and movies.
  • Prime Reading: Free access to ebooks and digital magazines.
  • Prime Photos: Free unlimited storage for photos.
  • Audible Channels: Free access to a rotating library of full-length audiobooks.
  • Twitch Prime: Free games and a free channel subscription on Twitch every 30 days.
  • AmazonFresh: Grocery delivery and pickup service. Only available if one of the two adults in a Household are paying for an AmazonFresh add-on membership.

Restrictions When Sharing Amazon Prime Benefits

Prime Music and Amazon Music Unlimited cannot be shared through a Household.

Amazon Prime benefits cannot be shared with child profiles. Prime Student accounts and free-trial Amazon Prime accounts cannot be adults in a Household, meaning they cannot share their Amazon Prime benefits.

Sharing Amazon Prime Benefits: For Family, Not Friends

When two adults link their Amazon accounts together in a Household, payment methods on each account become visible and accessible to both accounts. Whoever you link accounts with will be able to see your credit cards and other payment details.

As such, we recommend sharing Amazon Prime with family members only---and even then, only family members whom you trust completely. That said, it's a much better option than giving someone complete access to your account by sharing your password (in which case they'd have access to your payment methods anyway).

How to Share Amazon Prime With Family

How to Add a Family Member to Amazon Household

Head over to the Amazon Household page and you'll see three buttons:

  • Add Adult: On the next page, enter their name and the email address associated with their Amazon account. They'll need to confirm and verify that they want to create a Household with you. Once they do, both accounts will be linked together under the same Household.
  • Add a Teen: On the next page, click Sign up now to begin adding a teen. Fill out the teen's name and birthday, select which payment method they're authorized to use, select which shipping addresses they're allowed to use, and select which contact method to use for notifications when they buy something.
  • Add a Child: On the next page, fill out the child's name, gender, birthday, and select an icon for the profile.

How to Remove a Family Member From Amazon Household

Head over to the Manage Your Household page and you'll see three sections: Adults, Teens, and Children. Find the family member you want to remove, click Edit under their name and icon, and then click Remove. It's as easy as that!

Start Taking Full Advantage of Amazon Prime

Don't underestimate the value of being able to share these Amazon Prime benefits. There are so many great movies on Prime Video and awesome Prime TV shows, plus other conveniences like sharing unlimited photos with family members and even being able to participate in Prime Day every year.

Amazon tracks everything you buy. Here’s how to make that work for you.

Given all of the time we spend shopping on Amazon, the retailer picks up some major hints about our lives: Our hobbies, the phones and gaming consoles we own, our taste in books, the toys our kids play with, our garden equipment, and even our affection for DIY. Amazon relies on this information to target us with better recommendations for new products and more relevant advertising.

Even with all that data, the retail leviathan can sometimes miss the mark. If its recommendations leave you cold, or you simply want to adjust the ads you see, you can tweak these settings to make them more accurate and more helpful. Here’s how to view your full Amazon history, and use it to get more out of the site.

View your order history

Can’t remember if you’ve put an order in for a new tablet or not? Need a reminder of when you bought that Rolling Stones vinyl? Go ahead and check your full order history.

To take a look, log onto the Amazon website (not the app), hover over the Accounts & Lists section, and click Your Orders. The next screen will show you everything you’ve ever purchased from Amazon, in reverse chronological order. You can see when items were ordered, when they were delivered, and where they were delivered to, which makes this a useful page to check if something has gone missing.

In addition, the buttons on the right side of the screen let you take more actions. You can request refunds on recent orders, leave reviews, or ask a seller a question about an item. You can also remove your embarrassing purchases from this list by clicking Hide Order. And if you’re looking for something specific, take advantage of the Search all orders box at the top of the page.

Amazon also lets you download all this data from the Order History Reports web page in a CSV, or Comma Separated Values, format, which lets you plunk that information into a spreadsheet app. First, however, you get to set some parameters. For example, you can select a specific time span that the report should cover. In addition, you can choose to include only certain types of purchases, like products that you returned and had refunded. When you’ve put the right settings in place, click Request Report, and make sure to give it a name to make it easier to identify later.

When your report is ready, Amazon will send you an email. At that point, you can download the CSV file from the same page you used to request it. Open it with Excel, Numbers, or another spreadsheet app, and then play around with your order history—for example, you can graph how much money you’ve spent on books or DVDs over time.

Improve your recommendations

While this data lets you analyze your own order history, its primary purpose is helping Amazon determine your personal preferences. In addition to your order history, Amazon analyzes your behavior, like pausing to look at a product and lingering longer than usual, into the recommendations that pop up all over the website. Yet even these advanced algorithms don’t always understand what you’re looking for. In that case, you can take steps to refine them.

The simplest way is to write reviews of your purchases. Your star ratings will tell Amazon exactly what you do and don’t like. You can do this from the Your Orders page by clicking on the Write a product review button. Or visit the page for the item itself and scroll down to the Write a customer review button.

But you can also directly tweak your recommendations. To dig deeper, look for the Account & Lists button at the top of the website, hover the cursor over it, and choose Your Recommendations. This page has multiple sections for topics like books and movies. Click any of these sections, followed by View All & Manage. Then toggle the Edit Recommendations switch on the top right of the page to On. Now you can edit your list of preferences: Select the Remove option for items you really don’t care for and the More like this one for items you like.

To go one step further, look at the top of the page, above your recommendations, and select Your Browsing History. This shows you the items that you’ve looked at for so long, Amazon thinks you’re interested in buying them. If you don’t want these to influence the recommendations you see, then you can remove these items one by one. For example, you might get rid of all the Legos you’ve been looking up while shopping for kids’ gifts, preventing the toys from dominating your recommendations.

Finally, go back to that navigation bar along the top and click Improve Your Recommendations. Here, you’ll see all your purchases in reverse chronological order. Use the options on the right side of the page to rate individual items, mark them as gifts (so Amazon knows you’re not necessarily interested in them yourself), and specifically remove products from consideration by the recommendations algorithm.

Tweak the sponsored ads

As you browse around Amazon, not all of the items you see are results of its recommendation engine. Some of these advertisements come from manufacturers and sellers who want to put their goods in front of a wider audience. You can also influence which types of these sponsored spots appear.

If you look closely at a sponsored ad, you’ll see an Ad feedback link underneath. Click it to call up a new dialog box, where you can mark how relevant the ad is to your interests and to Amazon as a whole. You’ll also get the opportunity to leave a comment—just don’t expect a reply, because the Amazon team aggregates and reviews them en masse. Give feedback on a handful of ads, and they should gradually become more relevant to your interests.

Beef up your privacy

What if you want to stop Amazon from using your browsing to produce its recommendations and ads? For example, you may be researching something you have no interest in buying, or looking for gifts for someone else.

Browser extensions such as Adblock Plus (for all modern browsers) and Privacy Badger (for Chrome, Opera, and Firefox) stop many websites, including Amazon, from tracking your activities. With these add-ons, you’re less likely to see ads for items similar to those you’ve been viewing. Of course, if you ever do want to receive tailored recommendations based on your browsing, you’ll need to disable these plug-ins.

Here’s another handy shortcut for untracked browsing: Fire up your browser in incognito or private mode and search Amazon without first signing into your account. Although the website will still log your data, it will only be on a temporary basis, and it will wipe this information when you shut the private window. On future searches, this private browsing won’t leave traces in your recommendations or sponsored ads.

Amazon Prime Video offers a wide variety of movies, TV shows, and custom content from Amazon. Whether you’ve signed in to your account on old devices or you’re looking to remove someone, here’s how you can see which devices are using your account.

Amazon doesn’t have a limit on the amount of devices you can have on your Prime Video account. While you can have as many devices as you want, you can only stream three titles at a time on three devices. These steps will show you how you can see those devices on both your desktop and your mobile device.

How to See Devices on Desktop

When you first go to Amazon’s website, you’ll want to select the three-lined hamburger icon in the top-right corner to get to the service’s menu.

Next, select “Settings” in the right-hand side of the Prime Video bar.

How to See Devices on Mobile

When logged into the Prime Video app for Android, iPhone, or iPad, you’ll want to select the “My Stuff” tab in the bottom right-hand corner.

From there, in the top-right corner of the “My Stuff” page, choose the Gear symbol that will take you to the Settings menu.

From the Settings menu, select “Registered Devices” to see all of the computers, phones, smart TVs, and other devices that are signed in to your Amazon account.

Similar to the online website, you will be able to see all of the registered devices as well as be able to unregister them. You won’t be able to register a new device in the app, however.

1. Immediately Change Your Amazon Password

If you think your Amazon account was hacked for ANY reason, the first thing you should do is immediately login to your account and change your password.

To make this happen just click on Accounts & Lists, followed by Your Account, then Login & Security.

Make your new password a string of random numbers and letters and not actual words.

Then write it down somewhere for safe keeping.

It would also be REALLY smart to change the password on the email account associated with your Amazon account.

2. Check Your Account Information

Next, click around your Amazon account carefully and make sure nothing has been altered.

Check your linked credit cards (if any), billing address, shipping address, phone number, and email address.

If any information has been changed, be sure to note the change (with a screen capture) and then correct it.

At this point you should call Amazon’s security department at (888) 282-2406 and tell them that your account has been breached.

They’ll be able to provide further assistance and help you keep an eye on your account activity in the coming days.

3. Check Purchase History (Especially Archived Orders)

Next, take a look at your Amazon order history and make sure you recognize all recent purchases.

Don’t forget to click on Archived Orders as often times hackers will “hide” fraudulent orders there.

You’ll find all of your archived orders in the “Ordering and Shopping Preferences” section of your Amazon account. See screenshot above.

4. Enable Amazon 2-Step Verification

By turning on 2-Step Authentication your Amazon account is much harder to hack into.

Essentially it requires a security code to be entered whenever you attempt to access your account from a new computer, smartphone, or tablet.

To authenticate, Amazon will simply shoot you a text message with a security code attached that you manually enter.

Very easy to do and definitely helps keep hackers out of your account.

5. Consider Un-Linking Credit Cards

Having your credit card(s) linked to your account makes ordering much easier. Believe me, I know.

But it also creates an easy way for hackers to make unauthorized purchases on those cards.

A simple workaround is to un-link all payment methods from your Amazon account.

Yes, you’ll have to enter your card info every time you make a purchase, BUT you won’t have to worry about someone hacking into your account and making a bunch of purchases.

6. Check all Credit Card Accounts

At this point it’s also smart to check all of your credit cards that are linked to your Amazon account.

Make sure none of them have any unauthorized purchases on them.

Bonus: 3 Ways to Protect Yourself From Future Attacks

1. Never Click on Phishy Emails

If you get a supposed email from Amazon about your account, but it just doesn’t look right, DO NOT click on any links within the email.

Also, check the email address of the sender. Often times these phishing emails will NOT be from an address ending with @amazon.com. Stay far away from those.

2. Don’t Access your Amazon Account Over Unsecured Network

In other words, try not to shop online when sipping a latte at Starbucks if you’re using their free WiFi.

3. Get Into Your Account if Hacker Changes Email Address

Well, in short, you CAN’T get into your Amazon account if this happens.

You’ll have to immediately call Amazon at (888) 280-4331 and they can remove the fraudulent email address and lock your account until the issue is resolved.

The 3 “P”s you need to deal with an Amazon account lock

 

Before we jump in, I want you to put your feet up, take a deep breath and try to relax.

 

You need to realize that it’s totally normal for most dropshippers that have had their Amazon accounts locked for the first time to experience a mild sense of panic.

But please, before you tell all your friends that they should sell their possessions because the world is coming to an end, know this:

 

In 99% of cases, if your Amazon account has your real details it will be unlocked.

 

I repeat, if your Amazon account has your real details, it WILL be unlocked in 99% of cases!

 

All you need are the “3 P’s” – Persistence, Pressure, and Patience

 

Persistence because you may need to send a few messages and know not to take “no” for an answer.

 

Pressure because you need to be so pesky that you force Amazon to notice you and act.

 

And patience, because even with the strategies in this article, it can take time (often 1-2 weeks) for your account to be unlocked.

 

Once your Amazon account is unlocked, you will get your gift card balance back (if you had any). And in the meanwhile, if there are any customers asking where their orders are, you can simply message them an apology, say it must have been lost in transit and ask them if they want a refund or it to be re-ordered with “express delivery”.

 

 

Why are Amazon accounts normally locked?

 

In our experience, there are 5 main reasons that Amazon will lock your account.

 

But in addition, there are 2 widely believed reasons that usually have no bearing on your account being locked.

 

So let’s look at these myths first.

 

Myth 1: Amazon lock accounts of dropshippers for abusing PRIME

 

Myth 2: Amazon lock accounts because they don’t agree with dropshipping

 

Reality: Amazon gets millions of sales (and dollars) every year thanks to dropshippers. They get their Amazon-branded packaging in the hands of new customers and gain sales on competing platforms too. What’s not to love?

 

The problem with these myths is that it often causes people to be untruthful when they talk to Amazon because they fear they’ve broken their rules so they enter fake information or tell lies which actually makes the situation near impossible to rectify.

 

As you’re about to see, Amazon doesn’t want to make it harder to get orders from you. The real reasons that Amazon lock accounts are much more to do with protecting customers from fraud and money laundering.  

 

Here they are:

 

Failed Credit Card Verification

 

If you’ve previously had an Amazon account suspended, you may be tempted to enter fake billing details or use someone else’s credit card when opening a new account. And whilst it might seem like a smart move at the time, it usually proves to be the very opposite.

 

You see, when you add a credit card to your Amazon account, they’ll check if the billing address registered with your card provider matches the default address on your Amazon account. And if it doesn’t then prepare to have your account locked very quickly.

 

This isn’t Amazon trying to be evil, this is simply Amazon trying to prevent potential fraud. Amazon sells around $200bn/year so it makes sense to invest in robust systems to prevent customers from being defrauded.

 

Suspicious Gift Card Activity

 

Dropshippers love buying gift cards to purchase items. But to Amazon, gift cards are equivalent to cash on their platform so they have to police them tightly.

 

With Amazon having the widest range of products of any retailer in the world, it has become a prime (no pun intended) target for money launderers that want to turn cash into items.

 

This leads to 2 big triggers that usually alert Amazon to lock an account when dealing with gift cards.

 

Unusually heavy usage of gift cards – Buying and redeeming large values of gift cards can seem unusual so Amazon will want to verify your reasons for it.

 

Opening a new account – If someone goes onto Amazon, opens a PRIME account and the first thing they do is buy a gift card, this will cause an immediate lock on your Amazon account.

 

Again, Amazon isn’t trying to be evil. They simply need to comply with various money laundering regulations around the world. At the end of the day, they love your money and want your orders as much as you want to buy from them.

 

Multiple IP Addresses In Different Locations

 

Opening your Amazon account in one location, then making lots of purchases with an IP address in another location can make Amazon start to think “how’s this possible?” and “has your account been hacked?”.

 

We’ve had phone conversations with Amazon where they’ve specifically told us that the account was locked because it was created in the USA, but then gift cards were being purchased thousands of miles away via an IP address located in the Netherlands.

 

Because of this, international dropshippers should be wary of accessing and buying gift cards with their local IP address or using software that logs in from one location when you order from another.

 

NEW: High volume of returns

 

Every time you return an item, Amazon has to deal with shipping and restocking which costs them a lot of money – particularly for a company that notoriously sells items at a very low profit margin.

 

Recently a report from Appriss showed that US retailers suffered a staggering $369 billion in lost sales in 2018 just from returns. That’s why Amazon (and others) have invested heavily in systems to detect unprofitable customers that have a higher than average return rate.

 

Therefore if your volume of returns is particularly high, expect to see your account locked.

 

To avoid this, some dropshippers are now absorbing the cost of low value returns themselves to reduce their return %.

 

NEW: High value of items being ordered

 

One trigger for getting locked by Amazon is an unusually high value of daily orders – particularly on newer accounts.

 

Because of this, we’d advise keeping your daily orders below £200/day (~$250) by using multiple Amazon accounts. You’ll find more information on using multiple accounts later in this article.

 

 

What does Amazon need to verify and unlock your account?

 

When you contact Amazon to unlock your account, they’ll usually ask for your credit card statement with your billing address on it – showing the transactions made on Amazon (via fax), and also sometimes a copy of your ID, bill or credit card details.

If the information you entered originally on your Amazon account is correct, there should be nothing to worry about by giving these details and it’ll quickly resolve your Amazon issues. But do be aware that if you’ve entered fake information, there is little chance of having your account unlocked. Instead, you should continue reading to get advice on how to prevent future accounts being locked.

 

A special note for Amazon UK users

 

 

You may be asked for a bank statement that shows your debit card number alongside the transactions – however, unlike U.S. banks, most U.K. banks don’t do this.

 

For this reason, most people with a locked Amazon UK account resort to taking a photo of their statement alongside their physical bank card and sending this as evidence instead.

Who can unlock an Amazon account

 

Regular customer service representatives can’t unlock your Amazon account. This is why in all the scripts we provide, you’ll likely need to request a supervisor or account specialist.

 

There are only 2 ways your account can be unlocked:

  • If you speak to an account specialist directly on the phone (if you’re in the US, a specialist will normally call you, but if it’s an international account it’s highly unlikely)
  • If you speak with a supervisor and manage to confirm all the details they request

 

 

How to contact Amazon to unlock your account

 

Here are a few of the main ways to contact Amazon to provide the details needed to unlock your account. We’ve listed 5 different options because being persistent is key to becoming unlocked.

 

Lots of dropshippers have told us that only by contacting Amazon on a daily basis and through multiple channels have they got Amazon to finally unlock their accounts.

 

A note to Amazon U.K. users – not all of the methods listed below are available for people with Amazon accounts outside of the U.S. For example, in the U.K. you will be unable to talk directly with an account specialist by the phone or by chat.

 

Login to your account and upload documents directly

 

Here’s a nifty trick that was shared by a Salefreaks user, Alex, when he unlocked his Amazon account that allows you to upload documents directly to the Amazon account specialists via the Amazon website.

 

Step 1: Find your last order despatch confirmation email and click on the link to access your account. You should be able to view most of your account (except your orders).

 

Step 2: Go to a product and try to buy anything

 

Step 3: The following message should appear saying that your account is locked and your orders are on hold but allowing you to directly upload a copy of your latest statement.

Important: If you follow this method, you must login to the account via the order despatch email. If you try to login as normal you won’t be able to do this.

Step 1: (US accounts) Phone Amazon on +1 (206)-266-2992. When you get to the answering machine choose option 2 – Prime Members

 

Step 2: Ask for a supervisor and provide the verification details when asked

 

Step 3: Explain that your account was blocked by mistake after you purchased products and that you need an account specialist to review your details and reinstate your account.

Step 1: Login to an active Amazon account (you can simply open a new Amazon account, there’s no need to have PRIME on it)

Email

 

There are 3 ways you can send an email to Amazon.

 

1. Reply to the Account Specialist email

 

The first way is to reply directly to the email you will have received from an account specialist advising that your account has been locked (see below).

2. Email to the CEO office

 

Most companies, including Amazon, have a direct email address for their CEO and a special team that handles incoming emails.

 

These teams are usually able to escalate things faster and have a higher authority level.

As you’re not sending it directly via the Amazon portal, make sure to include some information that identifies your account such as your name and the email address of the account that’s locked.

 

We’ve seen this approach work successfully a few times – take a look below!

 

How to Unlock Your Amazon Account

3. Email via the Amazon Portal (US Only)

 

Step 1: Go to the account sign in form, and click on “Need help?” then “Other issues with sign in”.

Fax

 

The email you receive from Amazon is likely to ask you to provide a copy of your statement for your payment card via fax.

 

This is great, but the fax number provided often doesn’t work!

 

For UK Amazon sellers, you’ll be directed to go to amazon.co.uk/faxrequests

And for US Amazon sellers, you’ll be directed to go here. One US Salefreaks user has reported success using the fax number +1206-266-1838,however, we cannot verify this number and if you send documents here you do so at your own risk.

 

What we’d advise doing is to try the official numbers provided on these pages and if they don’t work then contact Amazon directly to ask if there’s another they can provide. As always, be persistent, even if this means calling their head office for a fax number, it can be worth doing.

 

 

Real stories from users that had their Amazon accounts locked

 

User Story 1: Alex – how using a different IP and system got him locked

 

Alex’s Amazon account was locked when he tried logging in via his PC instead of via Salefreaks’ Safe Access system.

 

Side Note: “Safe Access” is a unique Salefreaks feature that protects Amazon accounts by connecting to them via a Virtual Private Server (VPS).

 

As Alex didn’t login via Safe Access, the IP address, system and location was different to what Amazon was used to and caused his account to be locked.

 

At first, Alex just needed to reset his password or confirm his address, but after a few times making the same mistake, he believed that Amazon had completely locked him out of his account.

 

Unsure of what to do, Alex made another mistake. He decided to try opening more Amazon accounts – but because he had already been locked, every account he tried to open was locked as well!

 

Running out of ideas, Alex contacted his friend and fellow dropshipper Joao for advice who reassured him that he would simply need to go back to Amazon, send them the documents they requested and be persistent!

 

So that’s what Alex did. Less than a day later, Alex sent an email with a bank letter and waited…but nothing happened. Then he called them but was told that his account was being dealt with by account specialists and that they couldn’t do anything at customer service.

 

After 2 weeks of efforts, Alex escalated his efforts by calling Amazon’s London HQ. While their team couldn’t do much they did give him a crucial piece of advice – to reply directly to the first email from the account specialist saying his account was locked.

 

After sending an email in this way, he also tried logging in to his Amazon account by clicking directly on a link in his last order despatch email. Curiously, he noticed that it gave him access to a lot of his account but not his orders. And more curiously, when he tried to make a random purchase, he was redirected to a screen to upload documentation!

 

Within a day of doing this, his account was unlocked. And while it was re-locked 1 day later, after resetting his password it has been unlocked ever since.

 

Story 2: Joao – Why you shouldn’t hide from Amazon

 

As an experienced dropshipper, Joao noticed that a lot of people believe they should use different cards and different names to hide from Amazon. But what he learned is that there is bothno need and no pointin hiding.

 

Joao recalls a time when he woke up after receiving a message from his Virtual Assistant saying that 2 of his Amazon accounts had been locked. But when he tried to log in to his accounts he noticed that in fact all 4 of his accounts had been locked – and these accounts were responsible for 200 orders/day!

 

Surprised, Joao decided to call Amazon and “play dumb”. But Amazon was already one step ahead.

 

Despite having multiple accounts, Amazon told him that they knew all these 4 accounts were linked. In fact, they even noticed that one of his orders was about “how to open accounts safely”.

 

Since then, Joao has stuck to opening Amazon accounts with only his real information (and as you’ll see in the next section of this article, has found a neat trick for handling multiple accounts too).

 

He has also gone on to help around 100 people unlock their Amazon accounts and has a 100% success rate when the account information is real. In one instance, he managed to unlock £3000 of gift card balance when Amazon locked his own account.

Can you open multiple Amazon accounts?

 

The answer is yes, but…

  • If you are already locked, we don’t advise attempting to open another account as it will usually be locked as well. Instead, deal with your locked account first. [Update: we have since heard of one instance of a user that successfully opened another account with their real details after being locked]
  • Do not open accounts with fake details as if they get locked, you will not get them unlocked.
  • Do not open another account to try to avoid punishments from Amazon. E.g. if you were banned for a high return rate, deal with it rather than try to open more accounts.
  • You can only open one account per 24 hr period.
  • Your aim shouldn’t be to abuse the system and open 500 accounts. Only open as many as you need to handle your orders.

 

Here’s Joao’s trick on how to operate multiple accounts

 

Joao suggests when registering a new account, to use exactly the same details (name, address, bank card) but only change the email address with (+[number])

 

Example:

 

If your main email account is [email protected] – then open your next one as [email protected] and your next one as [email protected]

 

By doing it this way, all your orders will fall into your main account [email protected] even if you have lots of accounts. And should you receive a case on eBay and need to find out which Amazon account fulfilled the order, you can simply go to Amazon and search the postcode (or find it with Salefreaks CRM).

 

This method can also help you if you’re selling quantity restricted items – though be aware that it doesn’t guarantee you won’t be locked.

 

Here’s Marques’ trick if you’re using Amazon business accounts

 

While writing this article, another Salefreaks user, Marques, got in contact with us to suggest using Amazon business accounts as a way to minimize disruption if you’re using multiple accounts and one gets locked.

Marques says that by using an Amazon business account, you can add multiple users, and all users can view all orders.

 

This proved fortunate for him because after having his account hacked and suspended, he could still access his other accounts, and view orders on the suspended account until it was reinstated.

 

 

How to handle your account after it’s unlocked

 

Unlocking your Amazon account is great, but with these super important tips, you should be able to prevent it being locked again in the future.

  • Make sure your default Amazon address matches the billing address on your credit card
  • Use this guide to understand the most likely reason your account was locked in the first place and don’t repeat it (if in doubt – ask Amazon!) Example: if you purchased a gift card to buy items and got suspended for doing it, use a credit card instead.
  • Use dropshipping software that is able to delete addresses from your address book on Amazon (or make sure to do it yourself after fulfilling orders).
  • Don’t try to buy things for yourself on the same Amazon account that you’re dropshipping from
  • Don’t keep more than 1 credit card on file with Amazon at one time
  • If you have a high value of orders, spread them amongst multiple accounts

 

 

What should you do if your bank or credit card provider is blocking your card from ordering?

 

If you’re using a personal bank card for your orders, your bank might decide to block it if you place a particularly high volume of orders (e.g. >50 transactions/day).

 

This is normally because Amazon charges your card at the point of despatch, so if you order 50 items at $10 each, you could have up to 50 transactions showing on your statement.

One way to stop this is to use your card to buy gift cards from Amazon to fulfill your orders instead.

 

In this example, if you bought a $500 gift card from Amazon, that would count as 1 transaction on your bank statement and would be less likely to trigger your bank to block your card.

 

 

FAQ

 

How do I find out which orders were shipped from my locked account and which orders were not?

 

Our suggestion is to simply call Amazon and ask them for a detailed report of your last 30 days orders since you can’t access your account. You can also look through your email account and see which order despatch emails you have, though some users have found this unreliable.

If you were logged into the Amazon app before the account was locked, you may still be able to access parts of your account via the app to see.

How do I handle the orders which were not fulfilled?

 

This will depend on the software you’re using. If you’re having trouble getting your account unlocked you could call Amazon for details of orders that aren’t shipped and try to manually fulfill them. If you’re a Salefreaks user, once your account is reinstated, go to “purchase issues” to place the orders.

 

If I provided false information, am I likely to have my account unlocked?

 

Sadly this is very unlikely. What you can do is read this guide to learn how to prevent your future Amazon accounts from being locked.  

 

How can I handle returns from a locked Amazon account?

 

Good question! Here’s a trick we found.

 

Enter a different, self-owned Amazon account and login to the following URL: https://www.amazon.com/returns

 

Then choose the option to return a gift, and you’ll receive a return label. Do not do this from your main ordering account.

 

What should I do if Amazon asks for a phone bill or a copy of the passport of the account owner?

 

Send it to them, the faster you get this resolved the quicker you’ll be back in business.

 

What’s the difference between a suspended Amazon account and a locked Amazon account?

 

If your Amazon account is suspended, you’ll usually just need to provide some ID verification. For anyone that starts selling on Amazon, it’s normal that after a certain volume of orders you’ll be asked this.

 

What should I do if I receive a message saying “Amazon account locked your account has been locked for security purposes. Please check your email for instructions on how to unlock your account.”?

 

First, check the email you’ve been sent by the Amazon account specialist as it may contain a specific reason for the lock, such as; an incorrect billing address for your payment card, or a suspicious login from a foreign IP address. You may be asked to provide verification details, and if so, follow the instructions in this guide.

Amazon Prime Video offers a wide variety of movies, TV shows, and custom content from Amazon. Whether you’ve signed in to your account on old devices or you’re looking to remove someone, here’s how you can see which devices are using your account.

Amazon doesn’t have a limit on the amount of devices you can have on your Prime Video account. While you can have as many devices as you want, you can only stream three titles at a time on three devices. These steps will show you how you can see those devices on both your desktop and your mobile device.

How to See Devices on Desktop

When you first go to Amazon’s website, you’ll want to select the three-lined hamburger icon in the top-right corner to get to the service’s menu.
