Serving in the military often means frequently relocating to a new duty station. In my six years on active duty, I spent extensive time on 5 bases and traveled to dozens of other bases across the US and throughout the world. This frequent travel makes it important to have excellent banking options. That is why we have a list of the top banks for the military community. One of those top banks happens to be Chase Bank.

Chase offers a banking option specifically for military members and supports the military and veteran community. Chase co-founded the Veteran Jobs Mission in 2011. This coalition of more than 235 companies has committed to hiring one million veterans. Chase has hired more than 11,000 veterans since the inception of this program. You can learn more here.

On top of having an excellent suite of financial products (including banking, credit card products, mortgages, and investment services), Chase Bank features a network of over 16,000 ATMs and over 4,700 physical branches. Their large network makes it easy to find a location near you, even if you happen to PCS to a new location. Having continuity with your local banking needs makes your PCS move go much more smoothly!

Chase Bank Features – Everything You Need from Your Bank

I have been a happy Chase customer for several years. I have a personal checking and savings account and I have both personal and business credit cards with Chase. In my opinion, Chase has some of the best credit card offers around.

That said, I do have two banks – one with Chase Bank, and an online bank where I keep my emergency fund. I use Chase Bank because I find it helpful to have a bank where I can visit a physical branch when I need to deposit a check, make a large cash withdrawal, or for other in-person needs.

Chase Bank has a variety of features including:

  • Personal Checking and Savings Accounts
  • Business Checking and Savings Accounts
  • An excellent variety of credit cards (both personal and business)
  • Chase Debit Card
  • Online Banking and Online Bill Pay
  • Chase Mobile® Banking, including Mobile Deposits (remote check deposit)
  • Account Alerts
  • Access to over 16,000 Chase ATMs and more than 4,700 branches

Chase also offers mortgages, loans, Certificates of Deposit, and investment services. They offer enough different financial services to cover just about all your financial needs in one place.

I’ll leave it to you to dive into their suite of financial products and services. There are many, and it’s worth seeing if their services are a match for your needs.

Chase Checking Account Sign up Bonuses

Now might be a good time to open a new Chase Checking or Savings Account if you are looking for a new bank. Chase is currently offering a few signup bonuses that can give you access to a solid banking product, and net you several hundred dollars.

I’ll give a quick overview of these bonus offers and I’ll also recommend reading the fine print. Most bank sign up bonuses require customers to set up direct deposit or maintain a certain balance to avoid monthly fees. So the largest bonus may not be the best option if it incurs monthly fees.

These offers are available online nationwide except in Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. For branch locations, visit locator.chase.com.

Here are the account and bonus details:

Chase Premier Plus Checking (Great Account for Military)

Best Offer – Monthly Fees Waived for Military & Veterans: The Chase Premier Plus Checking account offers one of the largest individual sign up bonuses around. And this is an especially great deal for military members and veterans.

Eligible military members and veterans who open a Chase Premier Plus Checking account with Chase Military Banking benefits do not have a minimum balance requirement and there is no monthly service fee.

Chase Military Banking Benefits

Other Chase Military Banking features include:

  • No $25 Monthly Service Fee
  • No annual rent for 3″ x 5″ Safe Deposit Box or smaller (subject to availability, 20% discount on larger sizes)
  • No Chase fee on the first four non-Chase ATM transactions each statement period. Fees from the ATM owner still apply. A Foreign Exchange Rate Adjustment Fee from Chase may apply for ATM withdrawals in a currency other than U.S. dollars.

Military ID or proof of service is required to qualify for the Chase Military Banking features.

Read the Fine Print Before Applying for Sign Up Bonuses

It’s important to read the fine print when you are opening a new account for a sign up bonus. Most of these offers have requirements to earn the bonus offer. In general, you may be required to make a minimum initial deposit, maintain a minimum balance for a set period, set up direct deposit, or keep the account open for a certain amount of time. These types of offers generally aren’t open to current customers or people who have earned a similar bonus within a certain time frame.

Bonuses are also reported to the IRS as interest earnings and are taxable at your normal income tax rate. You should receive an IRS Form 1099-INT at the end of the tax year.

How long does it take to receive the bonus? I signed up for a Chase account a few years ago and received a bonus. It took about 10 days to show up in my account. Your situation may be different, so be sure to contact the Chase customer service department if you have specific questions.

This Chase checking account comes with a $225 sign-up bonus and easy ways to waive the monthly fee

It can be a drag to open a new checking account with all the work you have to do to update direct deposit and set up all your autopayments. But more and more banks make it worth your while by offering new customers a bonus once they open an account and meet certain requirements.

The Chase Total Checking® account offers a $225 bonus for new customers and a top-rated mobile app that makes banking easy. With both physical and online banking options, you can tailor your experience to your needs. Chase Total Checking ranks on our list of best checking account bonuses of 2021 because, in addition to the signing bonus, there is no minimum balance requirement to open a new account.

Note that the bonus applies only to new Chase customers. If you currently have a checking account with Chase, have received a Chase account-opening related bonus in the past two years and/or have closed an account within 90 days or closed an account with a negative balance, you won't be eligible for the bonus.

To make your search easier, Select reviewed the Chase Total Checking account. We considered APY, access to cash, perks and fees. (Read more about our methodology below.)

APY

The APY for this account is 0%. You will not earn interest on the money you have in this checking account. The average APY for interest checking accounts is low across the board, and many traditional banks don't pay out interest on their checking accounts.

Access to your cash

Users can withdraw cash for free at over 16,000 Chase ATMs around the country or visit the 4,700 branches nationwide.

Daily withdrawal limits cap at $500 for non-Chase ATMs ($1,000 for Connecticut, New Jersey and New York), $1,000 for Chase ATMs and $3,000 for in-person withdrawals at the bank. Debit card users are limited to $3,000 in daily purchases.

Perks

There is no minimum deposit for you to open an account, but there is a $12-per-month maintenance fee unless you meet the requirements to waive it (we explain more below).

New account holders can earn a $225 bonus, when they set up direct deposit within 90 days of account opening and keep the new account open for at least six months. (Chase deposits the bonus into your account within 10 business days. If you close the account within six months of opening it, Chase will deduct the bonus amount at closing.)

You can send and receive money with Zelle® and deposit checks through the mobile app. Chase uses 128-bit encryption technology to protect your username, password and other personal account information when you're using the site or apps

Fees

There is a monthly service fee of $12, but you may qualify for a fee waiver when you meet one of the following requirements:

  • Receive electronic deposits (including employer direct deposits or government benefit providers) totaling $500 or more
  • Maintain a daily balance of $1,500 or more
  • Maintain an average beginning day balance of $5,000 or more in any combination of this account and linked qualifying Chase checking, savings and other accounts

Non-Chase ATM transactions also come with fees: Withdrawals, inquiries and transfers cost $2.50 within the U.S., Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands. International fees differ slightly, at $5 per withdrawal and $2.50 for any transfers or inquiries (not including fees from the ATM servicer).

Chase charges a $34 insufficient fund fee (for transactions exceeding $5 over your balance) and a $34 returned transactions fee when account holders opt in to Chase Debit Card Coverage This feature gives Chase permission to approve and pay for your everyday debit card transactions when you don't have enough money available. You'll have until the end of the business day/cutoff time to transfer or deposit enough money to avoid an Insufficient Funds Fee on these transactions. There's a three-per-day maximum for these fees (totaling $102), and they don't apply to withdrawals made at an ATM.

Unless you opt in to Chase Debit Card Coverage, transactions will automatically be declined when there are insufficient funds available, and you will not be charged a fee.

Wire transfers can incur various charges depending on the terms of the transfer. Here are the charges for each:

  • Domestic or international incoming wire transfers: Chase charges a $15-per-transfer fee that can be waived if the transfer was originally sent with the help of a Chase banker or using Chase.com or Chase Mobile, in addition to any processing fees from other financial institutions.
  • Domestic wire transfers out of your account: Chase charges a $35-per-transfer fee when you use the help of a banker. That fee is reduced to $25 when you use chase.com or Chase mobile.
  • Transfers from your account to an international account: Chase charges a $50-per-transfer-fee when you use the help of a banker and $40 per transfer when you make the wire transfer online or from Chase mobile.
  • Wire transfer from your checking account to a bank outside the U.S. in a foreign currency: Chase charges a $5-per-transfer fee that is waived for transactions equal to $5,000 or more.

Bottom line

The Chase Total Checking® account offers the second highest bonus offer on our list, behind the PNC Virtual Wallet® with Performance Selectaccount which currently offers new customers a $200 bonus once they meet certain requirements.

Our methodology

To determine which checking accounts provide the best place to deposit your money and earn a bonus, Select analyzed dozens of U.S. checking accounts offered by online and brick-and-mortar banks, including major credit unions. We narrowed down our rankings by only considering checking accounts that have bonuses available to new applicants.

While the accounts we chose in this article all have bonus offers, we also compared each checking account on a range of features, including:

  • Reasonable bonus requirements
  • Available nationwide
  • Physical branch locations and/or online accessibility
  • Large ATM network
  • FDIC or NCUA insured up to $250,000

All of the accounts included on this list are Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) or National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) insured up to $250,000. This insurance protects and reimburses you up to your balance and the legal limit in the event your bank or credit union fails.

The rates and fee structures for checking accounts are subject to change without notice and they often fluctuate in accordance with the prime rate.

Your earnings depend on any associated fees and the balance you have in your checking account. To open an account, some banks and institutions may require a deposit of new money, meaning you can't transfer money you already had in an account at that bank.

Welcome to TD Bank Personal Banking

Community means family.

I think that's what it's turned into.

I'm going to cry.

I don't know why.

Alright, your turn to talk.

Hey everybody.

Sam from Bonn Place Brewing Company here, and this is my wife.

I'm Gina.

Bethlehem is one of the greatest steel towns in America.

When manufacturing had a downturn Bethlehem had to reinvent itself.

When I first met Sam and Gina, they had this dream that they wanted to accomplish.

When we first signed our lease on this building, people were questioning it, like "you sure you want to open a brewery on the south side of Bethlehem in the current climate?"

We were certain that it was ready for what we wanted to do.

We needed a bit of help to get this place opened...and everybody needs help.

When anybody ever comes to us and says, "We need help. What can we do? We don't know how to get through this red tape."

We say, "This is what we did. This might help you."

We even went to City Hall for someone once.

This is the community we can change.

What we can change is right here and right now.

Sam and Gina are very passionate about working with women entrepreneurs.

It's hard to start a business.

One thing Sam and Gina have been able to achieve is share the lessons they've learned with other business owners and convince them, "hey, it actually is possible."

We want to see businesses succeed with the opportunities that we've had.

So what better way than to mentor them.

We're all in this together, and it's the bigger picture.

Bonn Place is a catalyst for the regrowth of this community.

They're also now helping other young entrepreneurs get started.

Sam and Gina sat down with us and gave us tips and tricks of what to do to get started.

We had this idea.

And they believe in us.

How much they're committed to the growth of Bethlehem as a whole.

That's the real story.

[Applause]

They are the last two people who would want this bestowed upon them, but they are the most deserving.

So we all want to gather here today and say thank you, because we value everything that you put into Bethlehem.

There's a little bit more.

So, the contribution we made to a female entrepreneurship program, in your name.

We're absolutely thrilled.

Next year, with this gift, we're going to be able to serve even more women entrepreneurs.

The integrity of this community is real strong.

This is just the beginning.

Chase Bank is one of the largest banks in the U.S., and one of our top picks for national banks. You'll have access to more than 4,700 physical branches, 16,000 ATMs, and a well-liked mobile app that makes it easy to skip both (it averages 4.6 stars with 5 million reviews in the App and Google Play stores).

They offer everything from credit cards, home and auto loans, personal accounts, business and commercial products, and investment products under their J.P. Morgan umbrella.

Like most of the national banks, their rates aren't great, but their product breadth makes it easy to conveniently bank all at one place.

Expired Offers From Chase

These bonuses were recently offered by Chase, but are not available at this time through our site. Check back often as Chase may reactivate these deals or offer similar promotions in the future.

Tips and Tricks for Chase Bank Promotions

In order to earn the "free" cash from Chase, you'll need to follow the rules of each bonus offer.

These are clearly outlined in the fine print of every offer, but there are some common themes that are helpful for you to know up front:

01. Chase coupons

With most offers from Chase, you'll need to either request a "Chase coupon" by submitting your email address on that bonus offer's landing page, or apply for the account directly from that page. Each bonus has a unique landing page, which we link to from the individual bonuses above.

After submitting your email address, Chase will then send you a personalized code by email. Receiving that unique coupon code allows you to open the account at a later time (if you're not ready to go through the application process right then), or to take that coupon into your local branch.

Regardless of which path you take, you want to be sure that the coupon is being applied at the time you open the account. If not, you won't receive the bonus, regardless of whether or not you meet the other requirements.

To verify, be sure you're seeing the "we're applying your offer" call out (or something similar) on your application screen:

Chase coupon applied bonus offer on application page

Sincerely, we can't underscore this enough. Chase's internal systems track these codes and automatically reward you with the bonus once you've met the requirements.

Their online application is clear and intuitive, but if you're at all unsure, take the coupon to your local branch and have the banker verify that you're being enrolled in the offer.

02. Existing versus new customers

Most Chase bonus offers only apply to new customers.

That means you're not eligible if you currently have an existing account in that product category or if you've closed an account in that category within the past 90 days.

By "product category", we mean "consumer checking account", "business savings account" or the like.

For example, having an existing Chase Total Checking® account would not exclude you from opening a Chase Business Complete Banking℠ account and receiving that account's welcome bonus. But having a Chase Total Checking® account would exclude you from earning a Chase Secure Banking℠ welcome bonus.

03. Every 2 years limit

For nearly all Chase bonus offers, Chase limits you to receiving a welcome bonus only once every 2 years.

Again, this is within that product category or per credit card.

04. Clawbacks

For banking products, Chase will take back the welcome bonus if you close the account within 6 months. This 6-month clause also applies if Chase is the one who closes the account – if you're violating their terms, for example.

05. Chase credit card restrictions

Chase is well known for its 5/24 rule, which says cardholders cannot get a new Chase credit card if they have 5 credit card inquiries in the last 24 months. This is why many will advise you to sign up for any Chase credit cards first, before moving onto other issuers.

Beyond the 5/24 rule, Chase limits the bonus per card to once every 2 years, like we mentioned earlier.

06. Taxes

Remember that like all bank promotions, bonuses from Chase Bank are taxable. Unlike your regular salary, Chase does not withhold interest from your earned bonuses. Instead, Chase will send you a 1099-INT at the end of the year, and that bank interest will be taxed as ordinary income.

The exception here are credit card offers. Credit card rewards are typically treated as a rebate or discount by the IRS, rather than income. So earning a welcome bonus for opening a new Chase credit card is not usually taxable.

07. Fine print

Ultimately, every offer is unique. While the above tips are typical of most Chase coupons, they aren't guarantees. Make sure to thoroughly read the fine print of the bonus you're interested in.

Also know that offers can be changed at any time. Until you've fully enrolled in that offer by opening the account, the terms aren't "locked in".

That also means that the promotion may end earlier than the advertised expiration date – and truly, that happens all the time, even from a relatively consistent bank like Chase. If you're interested in a bonus, don't wait until the last minute to enroll.

Chase Bank Promotions FAQs

How do I find a Chase coupon code?

You can find most of Chase's active coupon codes right on this page. From time to time Chase offers targeted offers that may vary slightly from what you see here.

Are sign-up bonuses from Chase Bank taxed?

Yes, all bonuses coming from Chase promotions will be reported to the IRS and taxed as income. Keep this in mind when you're figuring out your total return on any given offer.

The exception here is credit card bonuses. Since most credit cards require a minimum spending amount to qualify for a bonus, the reward doesn't count as taxable income.

Do Chase offers expire?

Yes. As with most bank bonuses, Chase offers usually have expiration dates (see above examples).

Again, bonuses are fluid. Don't feel like you have to jump on one just because it's about to expire. There will be others later on.

With that said, if you find a great bonus with an account you want, there's no point in waiting. It could be a while before the same coupon becomes available again. So if you're sure, just go for it.

How long does it take to get paid a bonus from Chase?

Account bonus payouts vary in the amount of time they take to hit your account. With Chase, most bonuses will arrive within 15 days of completing the qualifying activities.

If you haven't received your bonus in the expected amount of time, double-check to make sure you didn't miss anything in the requirements, and contact the customer support team to find out what the hold up is.

Can I use multiple Chase promotions?

Probably not. Most coupons are only available to new Chase customers, and you usually only get one shot at a particular bonus.

Keep in mind that by "new", we mean new for that particular account category. For example, receiving a Chase Total Checking® sign up bonus doesn't keep you from also getting a savings account bonus. It only excludes you from other checking account promotions.

The only exceptions are referrals and bonuses that require you to upgrade to a premium account (e.g., Private Client Checking).

For example, if you already received a sign-up bonus for your initial account, you'll still be eligible for upgrade incentives. However, you may also have to deposit a huge sum of money to qualify for that upgrade bonus, which counts the average consumer out.

Which Chase Promotion is Best for You?

When it comes to sign-up offers, it's hard to find a big bank that does it better than Chase.

And while you should never choose a bank solely based on a sign-up bonus, there's plenty to like with Chase once you get in the door. Check out the full review.

As you comb through your options, keep two other things to keep in mind: Always watch out for disclaimers and fine print.

If you miss a specific qualifier, you could be missing out. You should also weigh any account fees against what you'll be earning in a bonus.

For example, a $25 monthly account fee can nullify a $250 sign-up bonus pretty quickly.

Now that you know all about the coupons available from Chase, you are a step or two closer to deciding whether or not it's the right banking partner for you.

Good luck!

When it comes to new account bonuses, Chase Bank offers some of the most generous bonuses – often worth hundreds of dollars when you open a new checking or savings account.

Chase Bank updates these offers from time to time. I’ve seen offers for $350 all the way up to $600. Sometimes there will be multiple promotions on the same accounts, so always go with the higher one if you can meet the balance requirements! We maintain a list of the best bank promotions for a checking and a savings account.

For each offer, you can open an account online or you can request a Chase coupon via email and bring it to your local branch to open an account. While available nationwide, you can only open an account online if you have a physical branch in your state.

Does Chase Bank have any active promotions right now? Yes, here they are:

How does a Chase bonus work? As you’ll see with the list below, Chase will give you a bonus if you open a bank account and meet their conditions. A checking account bonus will require you to open an account and set up a direct deposit. A savings account bonus will require you to open an account and deposit a minimum amount to get the bonus. The terms are easy to achieve and routine, nothing above and beyond what other banks request. I’d consider them all “easy” to achieve without any gotchas.

Chase Total Checking® – $225

Does Chase really give you $225 to open an account? Yes! – here are the details of the Chase Total Checking Account offer.

You can get $225 when you:

  • Open a new Chase Total Checking account and,
  • Set up and set up direct deposit within 90 days. The direct deposit needs to be an electronic deposit of your paycheck, pension or government benefits.
  • If you close the account within 6 months of opening, they will take back the bonus money.

The Chase Total Checking account has a $12 monthly service fee unless you do one of the following:

  1. Have a monthly direct deposit of $500 or more into the account, or,
  2. Keep a minimum daily balance of $1,500 or more in the checking account, or
  3. Keep an average daily balance of $5,000 or more in any combination of qualifying Chase checking, savings, and other balances.

Once you meet the requirements, the bonus will be deposited within 15 business days. The bonus will be reported as interest.

Available online nationwide except in Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. For branch locations, visit locator.chase.com.

What’s nice about this account is that there is no minimum deposit requirement and also no direct deposit requirement – but you must keep the account open for at least six months after coupon enrollment or they will deduct the bonus and there is a $4.95 monthly fee.

Chase Freedom Unlimited – $200

Chase Freedom Unlimited CardThe Chase Freedom Unlimited card is offers one of the best credit card welcome bonuses out there. There is a sign-up bonus of $200 after you spend $500 on purchases in your first three months. Where else can you get such a high bonus amount for such a, relatively, low spend?

It is also a $0 annual fee cash back credit card that offers 5% on travel purchases through Chase Ultimate Rewards, 3% at drug stores and dining, plus 1.5% cash back on all other purchases. Oh, you also get 5% cash back on grocery store purchases (not including Target or Walmart) on up to $12,000 spent in the first year. Be enticed by the bonus but stay for the awesome cashback rates.

The rewards are in the form of Chase Ultimate Rewards points which can be redeemed for gift cards, merchandise, and “cash equivalents.” If you want cash, you can get cash too (statement credits, bank deposit) but the reward points are quite useful using their portal.

Is there a Chase Bank $600 Bonus?

No.

Several years ago, Chase Bank offered a $600 bonus when you opened a Chase Total Checking account and a Chase Savings account. That offer has since expired and anyone saying they know of one is simply out of date.

Will Chase be bringing this bonus offer back anytime soon? I haven’t seen it in quite a long time so I wouldn’t expect it but you never know with promotions.

The old promotion was that you would get $300 with a new checking account with a direct deposit within 90 days, plus $200 for a new savings account with a minimum deposit of $15,000 or more, and then an extra $100 when you did them both.

If this offer returns, we’ll update this page with the latest details.

How to Get a Promotional Chase Coupon?

To get these deals, you may need to go to the website and request a “Chase coupon.”

The bonus terms and conditions are above but to get access to the offer, you’ll need to go to the Chase website and request a “coupon.”

Now go to your email account and print out the email they sent. Take it to a branch and open an account. You will need to bring the email, either as a printout or on your phone, so they can enter in the coupon code. It’s a long string of letters and numbers.

If you go to a Chase branch without one of these coupons, wit the coupon code, they may not give you the offer. Go with the coupon and avoid any questions.

That’s all you need to do to get the promotional coupon offer!

Who Is Not Eligible for Chase Bonuses?

There are rules regarding who is eligible for these offers – for each of the checking and savings offers, you cannot get the bonus if you’re an existing Chase customer for that product. So if you have an existing Chase checking account, you cannot get the bonus for the checking offer. If you have an existing Chase savings account, you cannot get the Chase savings account offer.

Also, you can only get one new checking and one new savings account bonus every two years based on the enrollment date.

Things like this can invalidate you so make sure to review our guide on bank account bonuses to see what other gotchas other banks may have in their terms and conditions.

How Does This Offer Compare?

The business checking account offer is OK (see other business checking offers) but since there is no personal checking account offer – any other offer out there compares quite favorable!

Here are a few others:

Wells Fargo – $200

Wells Fargo has a nationwide promotion of $200 for a new checking account when you open a new checking account with at least $25 and receive a total of $1,000 or more in qualifying direct deposits into the new checking account within 90 days from account opening.

You can learn more about the Wells Fargo promotions to see how to get it.

Discover Online Savings Account – $150 or $200

Discover Bank is offering a $150 or $200 bonus when you open your first Discover Online Savings Account with the promotion code WH21 and deposit at least $15,000 into the account within 30 days. You get $150 if you deposit $15,000 or more and $200 if you deposit $25,000.

Chase Total Checking® – $225

Chase Bank will give you $225 when you open a Total Checking account and set up direct deposit within 90 days. There is a $12 monthly fee that is waivable with a monthly direct deposit of just $500, so no gotchas on this deal!

HSBC Premier Checking – $450

HSBC has an offer where you can get $450 for eligible new customers who open an HSBC Premier checking account and make recurring monthly qualifying direct deposits of at least $5,000 for 3 consecutive months. Click here to learn more about this offer.

Huntington Bank – up to $500

If you are a resident of Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, West Virginia, or Wisconsin then you could get up to $500 from Huntington Bank for opening a new checking account. There are several checking accounts that qualify but they’re great offers if you live in their geographic region. Click here to learn more about Huntington Bank offers.

That’s it – enjoy the free cash!

Is a Chase Bank Bonus Worth it?

As nice as a bonus is, it’s a one-time payment. In contrast, we usually stay with our banks for years, if not a lifetime. So should you choose Chase Bank in exchange for a couple of hundred bucks?

By itself, no. The bonus is a nice, well, bonus if you plan to bank with Chase anyway. For many, one bank is as good as another, and if Chase is convenient to where you work and live, banking at Chase makes sense.

That said, bonuses on checking accounts are generally a good deal. You won’t make much in the way of interest, but most don’t keep a lot of money in a checking account anyway.

In contrast, with savings accounts, your best bet is to go with a high-yield account.

I use Chase Bank because I find it helpful to have a bank where I can visit a physical branch when I need to chase total checking 200 offer a check, make a large cash withdrawal, or for other in-person needs.

2. Chase Business Complete Banking℠ - $300 bonus

Chase Bank is offering business owners a $300 bonus to open a new Chase Business Complete Banking℠ account.

The requirements are pretty easy to meet: deposit $2,000 and maintain it for 2 months, and complete just 5 qualifying transactions in the first 3 months. Several activities count as "qualifying transactions", including purchases on your debit card, deposits into the account, setting up a bill payment, and more. See the fine print for the full list, but needless to say, meeting that requirement should be painless.

What's especially awesome about this bonus compared to other business checking account offers is that Chase recently launched the ability for customers to open an account online. Compared to the vast majority of business checking accounts which require you to visit your local branch, opening an account at Chase is significantly more convenient.

If you prefer live help, however, you can still enroll in this offer by entering your email address on the bonus landing page to have an offer code sent to you. Just be sure to take that code with you when you visit a branch.

Good luck!

Chase $600 Bonus for Checking and Savings Accounts

Chase has brought back the $600 bonus with a public link that’s available to anyone. You need to open a checking and a savings account by 04/27/2020 to get the bonus, but don’t wait till then. The offer will be probably pulled early as usual, so jump on it right away if you’re interested and eligible. This is one of the best offers that we see from Chase, although there was a $900 targeted offer available recently.

Offer

The offer gives you a $600 total bonus, but it comes in two parts that can be done separately. You’ll receive $300 for opening a checking account, $200 for a savings account, and an extra $100 if you do both.

  • GET $300 for new CHASE TOTAL CHECKING account when you set up Direct Deposit within 90 days.
  • GET $200 for opening a new CHASE SAVINGS account, bydepositing a total of $15,000 or more in new money within 10 business days, and maintaining a $15,000 balance for 90 days.
  • OR get $600 for both (an extra $100)

Offer expires 04/27/2020.

Eligibility

Checking offer is not available to existing Chase checking customers, those with fiduciary accounts, or those whose accounts have been closed within 90 days or closed with a negative balance. You can receive only one new checking and one savings account opening related bonus every two years.

Most likely you need to have a Chase branch in your state in order to be eligible, even when applying online. Check the branch locator here.

Fees

Both the checking and the savings account comes with monthly fees, but can be waived.

Chase Total Checking has a $12 Monthly Service Fee that is waived when you do at least one of the following each statement period:

  1. Have monthly direct deposits totaling $500 or more made to this account; OR,
  2. Keep a minimum daily balance of $1,500 or more in your checking account; OR,
  3. Keep an average beginning day balance of $5,000 or more in any combination of this account and linked qualifying Chase checking, savings and other balances.

Chase Savings has a $5 Monthly Service Fee that is waived when you do at least one of the following each statement period:

  • Keep a minimum daily balance of $300 or more in your savings account; OR,
  • Have at least one repeating automatic transfer of $25 or more from your Chase personal checking account (available only through Chase Online Banking); OR
  • Have a linked Chase Premier Plus Checking, Chase Premier Platinum Checking, or Chase Private Client Checking account.

Guru’s Wrap-Up

We see this Chase $600 bonus a couple of times a year. It is available online so most people can apply. I doubt that targeted $900 offer will be back anytime soon, so if you are eligible I think you should go for it.

The Checking part is the easiest bonus to receive. You will receive a $300 bonus for opening a checking account and completing a direct deposit of any amount, simple as that. The $200 savings bonus on the other hand comes with a 15K deposit that you will have to keep it in the account for at least 90 days. Worth doing since you also get the extra $100 for opening both accounts.

If this bonus is not for you, then you can check our full list of available bank bonuses. And, if you’re new to bank account bonuses, you can learn more about churning bank accounts here.

How to Check Your Chase Account Bonus Status

Always review the "Terms and Conditions" contract before joining a new bank.

JPMorgan Chase Bank, familiarly known as Chase Bank, is something of a giant in the world of financial institutions. It offers approximately 4,900 branches, and it's really rather generous to the consumers who make it a household name, offering a variety of sign-up and other bonuses.

Bonus for Opening a New Account

Chase offers a $200 bonus right off the bat when you open a Total Checking account – with one catch. You have to arrange for direct deposits made into the Chase account you open, and they have to be from your employer, pension plan or government benefits. You have 90 days to do so, and other types of direct deposits, such as personal transfers, won't qualify you.

You can't simply open a new, secondary account if you already have one with Chase. You have to be a new customer.

Waiver of Monthly Service Fees

You might also qualify for Chase's waiver of your bank account's service fee, normally $12 a month. Your bank account must:

  • Receive at least $500 in one or more direct deposits each month to qualify, or
  • Maintain a balance of not less than $1,500 at the beginning of each day of the month, or
  • Maintain an average daily balance of $5,000, but this includes other Chase checking or savings accounts.

Credit Card Bonuses

Chase is particularly generous when it comes to its credit cards. It offers sign-up bonuses on new cards, specifically the Chase Ultimate Rewards cards. These include the Sapphire Reserve card, the Sapphire Preferred card and the Ink Business Preferred card, as well as four others at any point in time.

You'll also earn five points for each dollar you spend in different categories that rotate each month. The points can be transferred to Chase's travel partners, which include Southwest Airlines, United Airlines and Hyatt hotels, or you can redeem them for gift cards or cash.

How to Check the Status

Of course, you'll want to keep track of collecting all these goodies. Chase offers two options to help you along: online access and a Chase mobile app.

You can check your credit card rewards online by going to the Ultimate Rewards page of the Chase website and clicking on "Rewards Activity." Check your sign-up bonus on the mobile app by simply tapping on your card. The mobile app is available on the bank's website.

As for that Chase direct deposit bonus, how long will you have to wait? Chase indicates that the money should land in your account within 10 business days, so you can simply keep an eye on your balance and account activity to see if it's showed up there yet. The same goes for the service fee waiver.

What If Something Goes Wrong?

You can contact your bank branch or call the main Chase customer service number if your rewards or bonus don't show up, but check online or in your app first to make sure you do indeed have a reward or a bonus attached to your account or cards. Be sure you've met the necessary requirements.

It’s Not 'Free' Money

Keep in mind that none of this is going to come to you tax-free. Uncle Sam will be looking over your shoulder. You can expect to receive a Form 1099-INT from Chase at year's end, and the IRS will receive a copy, too. Most of these perks are considered "interest" for tax purposes, so you'll have to report them as interest income on your tax return.

And about that checking account signup bonus. If you close the account within six months of opening it, Chase will recoup the money from your balance at the time of closure.
