If your Card is discarded or destroyed, it is important that you call Customer Service at 1.800.240.8100 immediately and choose the option for assistance with a replacement, reissue, lost, or stolen Card.

What is the Economic Impact Payment Card? (updated March 17, 2021)

The Economic Impact Payment (EIP) Card is a prepaid debit card distributed to eligible recipients that contains the first round of Economic Impact Payments under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), the second round of Economic Impact Payments under the COVID-related Tax Relief Act of 2020 or the third round of Economic Impact Payments under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 that will begin mailing the week of March 22, 2021.

The EIP Card is sponsored by the Department of the Treasury Bureau of the Fiscal Service, managed by Money Network Financial, LLC and issued by Treasury’s financial agent, MetaBank®, N.A. For more information about Economic Impact Payments, click here.

Will EIP Cards be used for the third round Economic Impact Payments? (updated March 17, 2021)

Yes. To deliver the third round of Economic Impact Payments as rapidly as possible, the Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service will send Economic Impact Payments (EIPs) by prepaid debit card starting the week of March 22, 2021. To learn more, please click here.

How will I receive my EIP Card?

Your EIP Card will be mailed to you at the most recent mailing address filed with the IRS.

How will I recognize my EIP Card? (updated January 4, 2021)

Your EIP Card will arrive in a white envelope that prominently displays the U.S. Treasury seal and includes “Economic Impact Payment Card” in the return address. The envelope also states that it contains “Important information about your Economic Impact Payment.” The Visa® name will appear on the front of the Card; the back of the Card has the name of the issuing bank, MetaBank®, N.A. Information included with the Card will explain that the Card is your EIP Card.

Why did I receive an EIP Card?

You received an EIP Card because you are eligible for an Economic Impact Payment and the IRS did not have your bank account information. The EIP Card allows you to quickly access your Economic Impact Payment.

How was my Economic Impact Payment amount calculated?

The dollar amount of the funds deposited on to your EIP Card was calculated by the IRS. If you have further questions regarding the calculation, click here to visit the Economic Impact Payment Information Center for more information.

Will my round three payment be deposited, or loaded, on to my round one or two EIP Card? (updated March 30, 2021)

No. EIP Cards issued for the first or second round of Economic Impact Payments are not being reloaded. If you received EIP Cards for round one or round two stimulus payments, they all have separate balances, and you should keep those earlier EIP Cards until the balance for each EIP Card reaches zero.

I received my first or second round of Economic Impact Payments on an EIP Card, should I expect to receive my third round payment on an EIP Card? (updated March 17, 2021)

If you are eligible to receive ach customer service number third round payment, the form of payment for the third mailed Economic Impact Payment may be different than for the first or second mailed Economic Impact Payment. Getting Started
How do I activate my EIP Card? (updated March 30, 2021)

Call 1.800.240.8100. During activation, you will be asked to input your Card Number, last 6-digits of your social security number and the 3-digit security code from the back of your Card. You could be asked to further validate your identity by providing, at minimum, your name and address and answer identity verification questions.

You will also be asked to create a 4-digit PIN required for ATM transactions, request automated assistance and to hear your balance. For your Account security, do not use personal information as your PIN. For Cards with more than one name, only the primary Cardholder (listed first on the Card) may activate the Card.

How do I set up a User ID and Password for online access?

Go to EIPCard.com. Click “Login” and then “Register Now.” Follow the steps to create your User ID and Password. Be sure to have your EIP Card handy. You can use the same User ID and Password created for online access to access the Money Network® Mobile App2. For Cards with more than one name, please use the primary Cardholder information (listed first on the Card) for online or Mobile App registration.

I received a message that my phone number was blocked when I called 1.800.240.8100. What can I do? (updated February 2, 2021)

EIP Card Customer Service is unable to address phone calls from blocked telephone numbers, which could be caused by a setting with your carrier or on your mobile phone. You may change this setting with your carrier or on your mobile phone. Or, you may call us back from an unblocked number.

There are three easy and free1 ways to access your EIP Card account balance information and transaction history:

  • Online: View your balance and transaction history online any time at EIPCard.com.

  • By phone: Call 1.800.240.8100 to hear your balance and transaction history using our automated voice response system.

  • Mobile App: Download the Money Network Mobile App2 at the App Store® or on Google Play.

How can I use my EIP Card? (updated August 20, 2020)

You can use your Card securely and without a fee1 to make purchases anywhere Visa® Debit Cards are accepted — in stores, online or over the phone. You can also use your EIP Card to pay bills3, get cash back with a PIN debit purchase (where available), and get cash from an in-network ATMs Nationwide that carry the AllPoint or MoneyPass brands.1

There are many ways you can use your Card without incurring a fee1. You can:

  • Make signature or PIN-debit purchases anywhere Visa Debit Cards are accepted — in stores, online or over the phone.

  • Get cash back with a PIN debit purchase, where available.

  • Get cash from surcharge-free in-network ATMs Nationwide that carry the AllPoint or MoneyPass brands. To find surcharge-free in-network ATMs, use our ATM locator found at EIPCard.com or in the Money Network® Mobile App.2

  • Transfer funds to a personal bank account.

  • Withdraw cash at a domestic bank branch by conducting an over-the-counter cash withdrawal.

Can I use my EIP Card to make purchases online?

Yes, you can use your Card to make purchases if the merchant’s website accepts Visa Debit Card payments. You will need to enter your EIP Card information: 16-digit card number, expiration date and 3-digit code from the Card back. Make sure you have used the correct billing address associated with your Card account. To review or change your billing address, log in to your Card account online at EIPCard.com and click on My Profile. For Cards with more than one name, the primary Cardholder name (listed first on the Card) may be required to complete the online purchase.

How do I buy gas with the EIP Card?1

To purchase gas using your EIP Card, you should give your Card to the attendant to pre-pay for gas in order to avoid a pre-authorization. As with most debit cards, if you pay at the pump, merchants will pre-authorize your purchase, which temporarily puts a hold on your Card balance that could be greater than the transaction amount. Once processed, the money will be released, and your balance will be adjusted. Pre-authorized funds may take up to 7 business days to be released back to your Card account balance.

Can I use my EIP Card to withdraw cash at an ATM? (updated August 20, 2020)

Yes, you can use your Card to pay your rent or mortgage if your landlord or mortgage company accepts Visa Debit Card payments. You can also use a free1 Money Network Check to make these payments with the funds in your Card Account. What is a Money Network® Check?

Instead of purchasing money orders to pay bills, rent or make other payments, you can use a Money Network Check to make these payments with the funds in your Card Account. You can also write a Check and cash it surcharge-free at participating check cashing locations.

How do I write a Money Network Check?

Each time you write a Money Network® Check you should check your balance by logging in online at EIPCard.com to ensure you can cover the Check amount. Write today's date and the dollar amount on the Check. Write a name in PAY TO THE ORDER OF. Call the number on the back of your Card to access your Account and select the Money Network Check option. Enter the CHECK NUMBER and the DIGIT, then enter the amount you wrote on the Check without the decimal point and press '#'. Write the ISSUER NUMBER and TRANSACTION NUMBER provided by the automated phone system. Your finished Check's amount will be deducted immediately from your Account.

Can I use my EIP Card to make recurring payments?

Yes, you can use your Card for recurring bill payments; however, you must ensure you have sufficient funds to cover the entire bill. If you have insufficient funds, then your payment may be declined or partially authorized. To complete the purchase, you need to either use another form of payment or attempt a transaction equal to or less than the available balance of the Card account.

There are multiple ways to transfer the funds1 from your EIP Card to an existing bank account at no cost to you. You will need the Routing and Account number for your bank account to complete the transfer.
