Bay Area community colleges are starting to restore their summer sessions this year.

Here’s a sampling of the upward trend, along with colleges’ registration dates and other information. For most schools, registration begins this month.

— Chabot College in Hayward: Planning to offer about 175 classes, 47 more than last year. Registration dates are at www.chabotcollege.edu/admissions/AcademicCalendar/Summer13.cfm

— Contra Costa Community College District (Contra Costa College, Diablo Valley College, Los Medanos College): 1,002 classes, up from 693 last summer. New offerings include short-term, six-week classes. Summer session website: www.maximizeyourfuture.org/

— Foothill-De Anza Community College District in Los Altos Hills: No figures available, but the district reports the colleges are “rebuilding” their summer offerings.
