Just came to post this. I don't really need more PS5 storage yet, but for this price with a heatsink, I'm tempted.Nov 26th, 2021 3:19 pm- johncraven

Here's a test using the PS5 drive cover and with the cover off. The temps are cooler with the cover off by about 5 degrees C, depending on the test.
https://www.tomshardware.com/features/p ... -testing/3
The temperatures reported in the article are for WD850 and Samsung 980 Pro drives but I would imagine that the results would be similar with other drives.- Gitaroo

Yes, this fits the PS5 with lots of room to spare for a larger heatsink.Gitaroo wrote: ↑ So is this good for ps5? I actually bought this for my new pc, mobo comes with big headsink already but it's ps5 that's is more concerning.
I just installed mine and it came with the latest firmware (3.2.F.P7) and the PS5 reported 6445MB/s speeds after formatting.- hassanmahmood

For "normal" use, not really. If you copy big files from one pci 4.0 nvme to another then you'd notice a difference.hassanmahmood wrote: ↑ Is pcie 4.0 significantly better than pcie 3.0 for a pc?

They're more expensive (and heatsinkless) but Amazon.ca sells the WD SN850 and Samsung 980 Pro that have the necessary speeds for the PS5.Darko2 wrote: ↑ is there anything comparable that works with ps5 that is shipped and sold by Amazon.ca? I have a 44% coupon lol- roccerfeller

3.2.f.2a is actually the latest, although the Toolbox app won't offer an update.Canuck_TO wrote: ↑ Yes, this fits the PS5 with lots of room to spare for a larger heatsink.

I had this for a couple weeks until one day it started freezing and bluescreening over and over. I was about to RMA it but after formatting and not writing to it for a couple days, it started working fine again. It's been 10 days now w/o a freeze so I'll keep it unless it starts acting up again.- tietherope

Same price at Best Buy as well. Really contemplating it for my PS5, but see people here and there posting about issues. Might just cough up the extra for a WD or Samsung, but then at those prices I don't need the extra storage that bad haha.Nov 28th, 2021 6:38 pm- Canuck_TO[OP]

I can't locate the 3.2.F.2A version of the firmware and the updater showed that the latest firmware (3.2.F.P7) was released within the last month. (end of October)Spike wrote: ↑ 3.2.f.2a is actually the latest, although the Toolbox app won't offer an update.

Date wise, it seems newer but I had read that the .2A version does improve speeds to about 7400MB/s, it was pulled, for some reason.- gundamwingZero

no issues for me so far..running mostly my ps4 games in it..tested a couple of ps5 games and has been smooth…transfer rate is as advertised..using it with a 3rd party heatsink..i find the one included is too thin..tietherope wrote: ↑ Same price at Best Buy as well. I do data recovery on a hardware level and I can confirm that I have recently received a case of Adata Gammix S70 Blade 1TB AGAMMIXS70B-1T-CS that has suffered from controller overheating and failure. This is not related to a recent bad firmware update. The Innogrit controller failed in this case.Nov 28th, 2021 7:15 pm- tietherope
