New Hampshire Mutual Bancorp Employee Reviews

A Financial Haven for Experienced or Non-Experienced Individuals

Bank Reception and Support (Former Employee) - Concord, NH - May 28, 2020

Bottom line: MCSB / NHMB are a fantastic company to work for. The vacant positions within the company are usually as a result of moving up on the ladder instead of moving out the door. In this community bank you feel noticed by your peers and have a personal connection to different departments, local business owners, and levels of management including senior leaders. The atmosphere is very inclusive and is always striving to help their employees succeed by assisting with relevant education, certifications, maternity needs, disability accommodations and accommodations to location and scheduling needs. As a former full-time employee, I can say I was completely satisfied with the benefits package that included PTO, vacation wachovia bank corporate address, sick days, affordable medical and dental insurance, 401K, investing opportunities and even a pension plan. I felt like I had access to an overwhelming amount of resources and support systems that I had only scratched the surface of while I was employed. Although I had no prior banking experience, I was given a chance in an unfamiliar environment to succeed. I was so gracious to be given an opportunity to acquire the financial and professional skills developed with the encouragement of my team. I deeply enjoyed my time while working for MCSB and felt as if I lost a piece of community when I regrettably made the decision to leave.

Great place to work

The work environment is professional, respectful, and inclusive. It's a great place to work, learn new things, and continue to grow. I am one of the managers in our department and we handle a group 15 people. We are diverse but we make sure that it's a fun place to be.

I work here in Concord, NH

Happy employee

I’m a current employee and have to say, out of several places I’ve worked, they are outstanding. The culture is generally open and accepting. My only complaint is that advancement is difficult as people tend to stay here for a long time.

Marketing Administrative Assistant in Meredith, NH

The people are like family.

The team I was in was made up of wonderful people. My manager was very supportive and encouraging. Professional development was encouraged. I only left because I was offered full-time work somewhere else and there was not a full-time position available here.

PORTSMOUTH — Step Up Parents announced Meredith Village Savings Bank as its newest corporate sponsor. The donation will help support the mission of SUP in the bank’s service area, most notably the Lakes Region.

“MVSB is happy to do all we can to support the efforts of Step Up Parents,” said Rick Wyman, president of Meredith Village Savings Bank. “This organization works hard to enhance the lives of children that have faced adversities at a young age. We are proud to be able to assist these kinship caregivers.”

SUP founder Denyse Richter said MVSB is the first corporate sponsor from the Lakes Region, adding a number of SUP’s families come from that area.

“It is vital to our mission to work with local community partners like MVSB,” she said.

SUP offers financial assistance to kinship caregivers throughout New Hampshire who have “stepped up” to raise children with parent(s) who struggle with substance use disorder. Since its founding in 2019, SUP has given assistance to more than 80 families.

To learn more about SUP, make a referral or donate, visit www.stepupparents.net. Donations may also be mailed to PO Box 1603, Portsmouth, NH, 03801.

Statewide — Kinship families in the Greater Lakes Region, Plymouth and the Seacoast will benefit from the $5,000 grant given to nonprofit organization, Step Up Parents, from Meredith Village Savings Bank Fund of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation.

The grant will support the individualized needs of kinship families raising the children of parents with substance use disorder as well as allow Step Up Parents to build its organizational capacity and continue to grow during an extremely difficult year that has taken a devastating toll on many families.

“The stress and drain of the pandemic have resulted in an increase in substance misuse, meaning more kinship caregivers are being called upon to step up for the children,” said Denyse Richter, Step Up Parents Founder. “Many of these kinship families live in the MVSB service area, so this grant will allow us to continue our work and help these deserving families.”

Since its founding in 2019, Step Up Parents has helped 135, giving over $55,000 in assistance with the help of generous grants like the MSVB Fund.

“On behalf of the Meredith Village Savings Bank Advisory Committee and the nonprofit community, I want to congratulate Step Up Parents on your work and your unselfish efforts to help make Central New Hampshire a better place,” said Charles G. Hanson, Chairman of the MVSB Fund Advisory Committee.

If you or someone you know is a relative caregiver raising children of a loved one struggling with substance misuse, please visit www.stepupparents.net,  call 603-319-4739, or email [email protected]

About Step Up Parents:

Founded in 2019 and based in Portsmouth, NH, Step Up Parents offers financial assistance and support to relative caregivers in New Hampshire who have selflessly stepped up to be surrogate parents to kids whose biological parents struggle with substance use disorder. We are dedicated to honoring the efforts of these caregivers, preserving their dignity, and responding to their families’ immediate needs.  Step Up Parents believes that even heroes need a hand.

As a former full-time employee, I can say I was completely satisfied with the benefits package that included PTO, vacation days, sick days, affordable medical and dental insurance, 401K, investing opportunities and even a pension plan.

Overview

Meredith Village Savings Bank started in 1869 and is headquartered in Meredith, New Hampshire. It has assets of $906 million and $689 million in deposits, making it a medium-size bank. Meredith Village Savings Bank lacks premium access to customer service, with no options for live chat or all-day service. It is a conventional brick-and-mortar bank with access to service representatives at a physical location, in addition to its online and mobile apps. On the whole, Meredith Village Savings Bank is a good bank that deserves your consideration, with a score of 4.1 stars out of 5 from the SmartAsset team. Meredith Village Savings Bank provides customers with a complete suite of banking products, including savings accounts, checking accounts, money market accounts, CDs, IRAs, mortgage products and credit cards. It has a fair savings rate compared to the average savings account. The bank's standard checking account carries a $3.00 monthly fee, which is not too high as compared against the national average. Using a bank with free checking and a high interest rate savings account is the best option for gaining the most income on your deposits while having convenient access to your funds.

How We Rated It

SmartAsset's Overall Rating

The is a weighted average of rates, fees, service quality and financial health.Read more

When a component rating is unavailable, the overall rating is calculated as an average of the remaining available ratings.

Rates
The Rates rating represents an aggregate of interest rates for specific bank products measured against the national average interest rate for each product. Product interest rates may vary by branch. Rates shown reflect the highest available nationwide.
Fees
The Fees rating is an assessment of the bank's fees measured against the national average fee amount for particular services and is also affected by whether or not the bank refunds ATM fees.
Service Quality
The Customer Experience rating is a weighted average of the Mobile Rating and the Consumer Satisfaction Score, which is based on complaints brought to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).
Financial Health
The Financial Health rating is based on the Texas Ratio, an indicator that warns of credit problems at particular banks: anything less than 5% is considered Excellent; less than 20% is Very Good; less than 50% is Good; less than 90% is Fair; and over 90% is Poor.

Rates

With a savings rate of 0.19%, Meredith Village Savings Bank ranks poorly in comparison to the national average. Meredith Village Savings Bank's one-year and five-year term lengths CDs earn at a rate of 0.45% and 1.15%, respectively, while its highest-yielding money market account earns at an APY of 0.30%. Given Meredith Village Savings Bank's below average savings rate, you should consider taking a look at other banks for savings accounts.

Great place to work

The work environment is professional, respectful, and inclusive. It's a great place to work, learn new things, and continue to grow. I am one of the managers in our department and we handle a group 15 people. We are diverse but we make sure that it's a fun place to be.

Happy employee

I’m a current employee and have to say, out of several places I’ve worked, they are outstanding. The culture is generally open and accepting. My only complaint is that advancement is difficult as people tend to stay here for a long time.

The team I was in was made up of wonderful people. My manager was very supportive and encouraging. Professional development was encouraged. I only left because I was offered full-time work somewhere else and there was not a full-time position available here.

As a former full-time employee, I can say I was completely satisfied with the benefits package that included PTO, vacation days, sick days, affordable medical and dental insurance, 401K, investing opportunities and even a pension plan.
