Will We Ever Get Ted 3?

Family Guy and The Orville creator Seth MacFarlane would absolutely be open to Ted 3 with Mark Wahlberg.

We recently passed along word that The Orville and A Million Ways to Die in the West star Seth MacFarlane still plans to make a theatrical movie based on his hit animated series Family Guy. But what about a possible third entry in the beloved Ted series co-starring Mark Wahlberg? Well, today we have word that MacFarlane would absolutely be open to Ted 3!

Seth MacFarlane says this.

"I would absolutely be open to it. I had a ball doing those movies.I mean the Ted movies were a blast. Wahlberg was a blast. I had great fun doing that. I don't know. It's hard with a sequel past a certain number of years."

While I was unsure if the world needs a theatrical movie based on MacFarlane's animated series Family Guy, I can say without a doubt that I think a third film in the Ted saga is just what the doctor ordered. Sure, the second film wasn't as successful as the first, but then again, the original movie was a massive success, and so maybe the sequel shouldn't have been held to such a high standard. But either way, I know I'm not alone in my desire to join Wahlberg and his teddy bear for one last adventure. Close off the trilogy; you know what I mean?

The first film starred Mark Wahlberg as John Bennett, and Seth MacFarlane provided the voice and motion capture performance for the titular teddy bear, Ted. Mila Kunis joined them as John's girlfriend, Lori Collins along with Joel McHale as Lori's manager and John's arch-rival, Giovanni Ribisi as Ted's biggest fan and archenemy, and Patrick Warburton as Wahlberg's scene-stealing co-worker. Meanwhile, Ted 2 saw the return of Wahlberg and MacFarlane, along with Ribisi and Warburton. Amanda Seyfried joined them as Samantha Jackson along with Morgan Freeman as Patrick Meighan.

The movies featured fun cameos from the likes of Patrick Fhn staff directory as the films' narrator, Ryan Reynolds as Patrick Warburton's boyfriend, and Liam Neeson as "Customer." Many celebs joined the flicks as themselves including Norah Jones, Tom Skerritt, Ted Danson, Tom Brady, Jimmy Kimmel, Jay Leno, Kate McKinnon, and Bobby Moynihan.

Seth MacFarlane directed the original Ted movie from a screenplay he co-wrote along with Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild. MacFarlane also produced the flick along with Scott Stuber, John Jacobs, and Jason Clark. Universal Pictures released the comedy into a theater near you back on June 29, 2012. Ted 2 followed on June 26, 2015, and was again directed by MacFarlane from a script he wrote along with Sulkin and Wild, and MacFarlane, Stuber, Clarke, and Jacobs returned as producers.

Whether or not Seth MacFarlane gets around to making either Ted 3 or that Family Guy movie, only time will tell. But that said, if you're a rabid MacFarlane fan (they must be some of you out there) then you can always check out his science fiction comedy-drama The Orville over on Fox, which was just renewed for a third season back in May. This story comes to us via Today.

'A Million Ways to Die in the West' Review

No doubt, there's a market for films like A Million Ways to Die in the West and longtime MacFarlane fans (as well as raunch-comedy lovers) should find plenty to enjoy in the Western spoof.

No doubt, there's a market for films like A Million Ways to Die in the West and longtime MacFarlane fans (as well as raunch-comedy lovers) should find plenty to enjoy in the Western spoof.

A Million Ways to Die in the West follows lovable (and sarcastic) sheep farmer Albert Stark (Seth A million ways to die in the west ryan reynolds, as he attempts to get his life together after being dumped by his girlfriend, Louise (Amanda Seyfried). While Louise suggests she needs time to "work on herself," it isn't long before she begins a million ways to die in the west ryan reynolds well-to-do business man and mustache aficionado, Foy (Neil Patrick Harris) - adding further frustration to Albert's already negative view of life on the Arizona frontier. Discontent with the rigors of life (as well as risk of death) in the Old West, and without anyone one but his best friend Edward (Giovanni Ribisi) and a set of curmudgeonly parents to keep him in Old Stump, Albert begins plotting a move to San Francisco - until fate intervenes.

After Albert saves newcomer Anna (Charlize Theron) during a bar fight, the mysterious (and tough) young woman takes an interest in her sheep farming rescuer - promising to help Albert win back the heart of Louise if he agrees to stay in Old Stump. However, it isn't long before Albert begins to forget about Louise, realizing that Anna is his true love - that is until her outlaw husband, Clinch Leatherwood (Liam Neeson), suddenly appears in town thirsty for revenge.

Known best for his work creating, writing, and voicing animated series (including The Cleveland Show, Family Guy, and American Dad), Seth MacFarlane has spent a significant amount of time behind the camera - with only minor guest appearances on live-action TV. Two years back, the filmmaker took a bold step into feature film directing with Ted - the critically-acclaimed story of Mark Wahlberg and an unsavory CGI teddy bear. Now, MacFarlane is stepping outside his animated comfort zone once again, with a starring role in his own Western farce, A Million Ways to Die in the West. The result is a somewhat mixed bag: while MacFarlane is fine in the leading role, the larger film doesn't excel beyond standard how to contact stubhub customer service comedy bits woven together by a familiar and underdeveloped story of self-empowerment.

In general, A Million Ways to Die in the West is a harmless collection of chuckle-worthy gags that should please the Family Guy crowd, but falls short of capturing the same heart and laugh-out-loud moments that made Ted a hit. Without question, the film borrows heavily from satire greats (especially Mel Brooks), presenting a solid farcical tale  told from the perspective of a disillusioned and hyper-aware protagonist. Still, while there are traces of comedy greatness in A Million Ways to Die in the West, MacFarlane lacks the same restraint as his comedy heroes, often taking the low road to laughs with overindulgent raunchy jokes.

The approach might work on Family Guy, but MacFarlane a million ways to die in the west ryan reynolds story of Albert and Anna with a bit more sincerity. As a result, in a movie that prominently features erect sheep genitalia and a bowler hat brimming with diarrhea, it's a rough disconnect when the filmmaker attempts to force el dorado savings bank murphys onto cartoonish characters living in a flippant Western world.

Nevertheless, MacFarlane's self-described "nerd" protagonist is an entertaining focal point - thanks to a subtle juxtaposition of modern day colloquials and sensibilities in a movie that otherwise commits to its 19th century setting. Allowing Albert (and Anna) slightly more awareness than the rest of the cast, the filmmaker successfully reflects on the quirks and absurdities of the time period - without violating the core premise. For that reason, MacFarlane and Theron spend most of their time poking fun at old timey photos, Victorian ball gowns, and racial stereotypes - whereas the rest of a million ways to die in the west ryan reynolds cast is expected to play their caricatures with a straight face.

Liam Neeson phones-in with his best impression of a movie outlaw, but Giovanni Ribisi and Sarah Silverman chew up the scenery as loving couple, Edward and Ruth, who are faced with the timeless challenge of balancing career goals and a relationship - made even more complicated by the fact that Ruth is a (very busy) saloon prostitute. Amanda Seyfried offers an amusing turn as a shallow 1880s girl speaking in familiar 21st century platitudes, but Neil Patrick Harris steals most of Seyfried's scenes as an ostentatious (albeit moneymaking) facial hair entrepreneur and overall prick - who also happens to slip in a How I Met Your Mother easter egg.

No doubt, there's a market for films like A Million Ways to Die in the West and longtime MacFarlane fans (as well as raunch-comedy lovers) should find plenty to enjoy in the Western spoof. A quality cast and a storyline rife with tongue-in-cheek set pieces makes the movie an easy recommendation for viewers who will be satisfied by an undemanding string of Western-inspired antics - elevated by some enjoyable cameos and a few brief moments of biting satire.

That said, for moviegoers that expect a bit more, A Million Ways to Die in the West will be short on laugh-out-loud comedy beats - while also failing to find the "heart" that made  similar genre farces like Blazing Saddles timeless comedy classics.

After returning to Vancouver, he appeared in several TV movies and played a recurring role in the CBC fantasy series The Odyssey (1993–94). He graduated from Kitsilano Secondary School in 1994.

In hopes of finding more reliable and steady work, he dropped out of Kwantlen College (now Kwantlen Polytechnic University) after only a few months and moved with a friend to Los Angeles when he was 19.

Hollywood Career

After moving to Hollywood, Reynolds played a few supporting roles in TV series and movies. He was offered the role of Xander in Joss Whedon’s WB TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997–2003) but turned it down because he didn’t want to play a teenager anymore. Instead, he landed the role of medical school student Berg in the ABC sitcom Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place (aka Two Guys and a Girl, 1998–2001). The series helped Reynolds develop his gifts for mimicry and imbecilic bumbling, qualities that were also showcased in his lead role in National Lampoon's Van Wilder (2002). The screwball college comedy became a cult hit. It earned Reynolds an MTV Movie Award nomination for breakthrough male performance and cemented his persona as a charismatic, quirky and quick-witted smart aleck.

That role brought Reynolds work in a variety of genres. He starred in the Canadian heist flick Foolproof (2003), which received a big promotional push in Canada but bombed at the box office. He also voiced the sidekick jose peppers vegan options Leslie Nielsen’s bumbling crime fighter in the Teletoon animated comedy series Zeroman (2004–05). The dramas The Nines (2007), Fireflies in the Garden (2008), Chaos Theory (2008), Woman in Gold (2015) and the sci-fi film Life (2017) were all poorly received both critically and commercially. However, Reynolds found the perfect match for his star persona with the Marvel superhero Deadpool, an ironic, wise-cracking, foul-mouthed, fourth wall-breaking comic book character. The comedic action movie Deadpool (2016), shot in Vancouver, became the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time with a global box office take of more than US$783 million. Movie Review – A Million Ways to Die in the West

Director: Seth McFarlane

Starring: Seth McFarlane, Charlize Theron, Liam Neeson

Year: 2014

Bring to mind Seth McFarlane’s opening musical number as host of the Oscars and you’ll be fully prepared for A Million Ways to Die in the West.  “We Saw Your Boobs” is the epitome of McFarlane’s humor; dirty, juvenile, and unapologetic.  I don’t claim that there’s no intelligence behind his jokes, for much of what he’s poking fun at deserves ridicule, including our sensitivity towards bodily functions and political correctness.  But in order to find his style funny, you had better be prepared for the old dick&fart jokes of your prepubescence, humor that some (men especially) never grow out of.  Like Family Guy and Ted, McFarlane’s projects rely on your ability to forget being PC for a time and let yourself laugh at things you probably shouldn’t.  AMWTDITW just happens to be his best attempt at this concept, combining poop & history in a way that might make you a fan.

Talk about being born in the wrong era, Albert is the last man who belongs in the Wild West.  He’s a timid sheep-farmer who fears death, which is ironic, since any little thing could kill anyone in the small town of Old Stump at any time.  Snake bites, gun shots, wild animals, diseases, country doctors; there’s nothing safe about living on the frontier, a place where only the strong survive.  And so when Albert meets Anna, a woman who also seems quite out of place, things seem to be looking up.  But not so fast pal, because Anna is the wife of the most notorious gunfighter in the territory, the evil Clinch, a man who represents just another pathway to an early grave.  Can Albert learn to survive this brutal time period with all its killers, or will he become just another victim of the most deadly era in American history?

What didn’t surprise me about this a million ways to die in the west ryan reynolds was the large amount of dirty jokes.  Albert’s friend Edward is dating a whore, someone who knows that a request for anal sex from a costumer means she can buy her boyfriend a new belt for church.  Yeah, that’s what you should expect from this comedy, that and explosive diarrhea.  That’s the style McFarlane brings to the screen, a combination of 11-year-old & college freshman, something that’s not really appropriate for any age at all.  But what saves the day and makes AMWTDITW a surprisingly enjoyable movie is both the cast and how they accept the absurdity of the film that they’re in.  Theron is the perfect heroine, Neeson the perfect villain, and both lend credibility to a movie that wouldn’t have survived with McFarlane as the sole lead.  And don’t forget the side characters, with cameos galore: Amanda Seyfried, Giovanni Ribisi, Neil Patrick Harris, Sarah Silverman, Wes Studi, Matt Clark, Alex Borstein, Christopher Lloyd, Gilbert Gottfried, Ewan McGregor, John Michael Higgins, Ryan Reynolds, Mae Whitman, Bill Maher, Jamie Foxx, Kaley Cuoco.  Add in a surprising amount of historical research about the period & a bit of genre mockery, and you have a movie that’s funny in a million ways.  Not wonderful, not innovative, often ridiculous, but undeniably humorous.
