Around the same time that the Irma was built, a Kansas woman, Agnes Chamberlin, opened the Chamberlin Hotel boarding house downtown on 12th Street in 1903. The hotel, with its convenient location and well-appointed rooms, was popular with actors, authors, politicians, opera singers, movie stars and tycoons, including Ernest Hemingway, who stayed there in 1932 on his way back to Key West, Florida, after spending the summer at the L Bar T Ranch near Yellowstone. Restored and renamed in 2005, the lovely Chamberlin Inn was re-created as a boutique hotel, and Hemingway’s signature on the hotel register is on display for guests to view.

The William F. Cody Archive: Documenting the life and times of Buffalo Bill

A joint project of the McCracken Research Library at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West and the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, The William F. Cody Archive provides an invaluable record of the late nineteenth-century and early twentieth-century American national development. Through this digital archive and its associated texts, researchers and visitors have an unequaled opportunity to see, through the eyes of Buffalo Bill, the expansion and growth of the American West.

Readers are given glimpses of attitudes of the time through his interactions with individuals ranging from statesmen and royalty to noted military and literary figures who sought his opinion on policy questions concerning the American West. A greater understanding of public attitudes and political, economic, and environmental policies that affected the United States during his lifetime are also reflected in his lesser-known roles as a community founder, businessman, rancher, and investor.

Kanye West to host 'Sunday Service' at Cody museum

BILLINGS — The 21-time Grammy award winning musician and producer Kanye West will hold a "Sunday Service" at 12 p.m. Sunday in the Powwow Garden at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody, Wyo.

In a Facebook post, The Buffalo Bill Center of the West stated, "Ye — and his 80-person choral group — host Sunday Service at the Powwow Garden this weekend. Free and open to the public. Yeah, you heard that correctly."

People Magazine reported earlier in the month that West and his wife, reality star Kim Kardashian West, had bought a ranch near Cody worth $14 million.

According to Google Maps, the Powwow Garden at the museum appears to be about half the size of a city block.

Questions remain of how many people will show up to the free event, and if the Powwow Garden has the capacity to hold them.

As reported by On Milwaukee, West performed a Sunday Service on Sept. 9. If you've never been, expect the unexpected, such as the service having no raised stage for the artists.
